Olorunnisola (Sola) Rebecca Abe

With over seven years of experience in journalism, Sola Abe, the Media and Communications Officer at Invictus Africa, leads the organization’s communications and advocacy strategies. She specializes in telling stories about women’s empowerment, sexual reproductive Health and Rights, and advocating against Gender-Based Violence.

She is a 2022 Fellow of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship, and a 2020 Women Deliver Young Leader.
In 2018, her story on Female Genital Mutilation was featured in a book that was launched at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly through her partnership with Wellbeing Women for Africa.
In 2016, she became the first female writer from Nigeria to write for YourCommonwealth.org and won an award for the best correspondent in the same year.

Sola has extensive experience, having worked and written for Code for Africa News fellowship, the largest civic technology and data journalism initiative, as well as leading traditional and online media organizations in Nigeria such as Legit.NG, The PUNCH, Vanguard, Guardian, The Cable, and Woman.NG.

She is passionate about the actualization of SDGs 3 and 5. Through her volunteer work, she provides sanitary hygiene products for girls and educates them on Menstrual Hygiene Management, ensuring they are not deprived of their educational rights simply because they are going through one of the most important phases of their development as girls.

Sola holds a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Nigerian Languages from Ekiti State University.
